Location and arrival
Winter timetable: Be advised that until April 13th the Rigi cog wheel train runs on a winter timetable. Between 4.15 PM and 9.15 PM there's only a train at 5.40 PM.
The Rigi is a car free area.
Arrival through Vitznau, located at the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne), and from there by the Rigi cog wheel train to Romiti-Felsentor station (stop upon request). If you mention at the ticket counter that you will be staying at Felsentor you will get a 50% discount.
Half tax subscription and GA (general subscription) are also valid.
Travel on the A4 in the direction of Lucerne and take the exit for Gotthard. Then drive right through Küssnacht and at the round about procede towards Gersau/Brunnen until Vitznau. Metered parking is available near the Rigi Bahn Station (cog wheel train).
By train and bus
From Lucerne: Take the train to Küssnacht Station and change there to the bus to Vitznau.
From Zürich: Take the train to Rotkreuz Station. From there take Bus 53 to Küssnacht Station, where you get on the bus to Vitznau.
Alternatively: Take the train to Arth Goldau and from there the blue Rigi-Bahn to Rigi-Staffel. In Rigi-Staffel you have to change into the red Rigi-Bahn down hill. Get off at Romiti-Felsentor.
By train and ship
Take the train to Lucerne Station. From there, at the waterfront just outside the Station, take the ship directly to Vitznau. From Vitznau Station take the Rigi-Bahn (cog wheel train) up the mountain to Romiti-Felsentor. ( Stop upon request)
From Romiti to the Felsentor
At Romiti Station there are road signs that guide you to Felsentor. The walk takes approx. 15 Min. (robust footwear and a flash light!)
